Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) will issue the smart syllabus for Classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 on November 7, 2026.
What did the minister say about this?
The minister said work on the new syllabus is almost complete. Officials are finishing the remaining preparations before its release.
The smart syllabus will cover both secondary and higher secondary classes. It is aimed at students preparing for next year’s board examinations.
Hayat confirmed that PECTAA will share the complete details for all four classes on Saturday.
Are exams in Punjab going digital?
Separately, Punjab is also set to introduce a fully digital examination system across all educational boards from next year.
Students will use e-sheets instead of traditional paper answer sheets as part of the province’s plan to improve the examination process.
The new system has already been tested with 50,000 students who appeared in their Intermediate Biology examination using e-sheets.
Education official Muzammil Mahmood said the digital system would help stop cheating and prevent fake candidates from taking exams.
He added that on-screen paper checking would also make the marking process faster and help boards announce results earlier.
The move is also expected to reduce paper use and save time and money. Education board officials have confirmed that all subjects will be examined through the e-sheet system from next year.

According to another announcement, the Punjab government plans to hire retired doctors and medical experts from the private sector as professors and associate professors on a contract basis.
According to available details, applications have reportedly been invited until November 5, 2026.
Doctors up to 65 years of age will be allowed to apply. The recruitment will cover 12 medical departments.
