Closing down sale at departmental store “Chase up” in Karachi has led to chaos, making the police helpless to control the crowd.
A large number of people gathered outside the departmental store Chase Up, after the store announced its closing down sale at KDA Chowrangi in Karachi. The store had announced massive discounts on all its items.
Local authorities tried to manage the situation but they were helpless in front of the mob eager to shop.
According to eyewitnesses, women with small children were seen pushing each other to get inside the store. Seeing the magnitude of the rush the store administrators had to keep the shutter of the shop close.
The sale also caused traffic problems in the area. Heavy rush blocked main roads around the store. Motorcycles and cars were parked in double and triple lines.
Karachi Traffic Police issued an emergency alert and had to clear the roads
