Four people, including three Pakistani teenagers, were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Greater Manchester.
Police said a car and a taxi collided head-on in Bolton early Sunday morning. The crash happened on Wigan Road, near residential houses.
According to Greater Manchester Police, a red Seat Leon hit a Citroen C4 Picasso taxi. The impact was severe.
Three young men travelling in the Seat Leon died on the spot. Two were 18 years old. One was 19. They were identified as Pakistani nationals. The driver of the taxi also lost his life.
The teenagers were identified as Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, Farhan Patel and Muhammad Danyaal Asghar Ali. Their names were confirmed by the Bolton Council of Mosques.
The taxi driver was identified locally as Mosrab Ali. Police said he was in his 50s.
Five injured passengers were shifted to hospital. Their condition was not immediately known.
Images from the scene showed badly damaged vehicles and debris scattered on the road. Police officers cordoned off the area for investigation.
Doorbell camera footage showed the car travelling on the wrong side of the road. It then crashed into the taxi and hit a parked vehicle.
Local residents said accidents are common on this road. They blamed over-speeding and lack of safety measures.
Some residents told local media they had earlier asked the council to install speed breakers. They said nothing was done.
Emergency services reached the spot quickly. Firefighters had to cut people out of the wreckage.
The Bolton Council of Mosques said it is supporting the bereaved families.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
