Karachi: SSGC announces gas load shedding schedule, see timings

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary 48-hour suspension of gas supply to industrial consumers and CNG stations in Karachi, as the company prioritises households and commercial users amid rising winter demand.

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has issued a fresh alert, announcing a temporary suspension of gas supply to industrial consumers in Karachi.

In a statement on Friday, SSGC spokesperson Salman Ahmed Siddiqui said that the company is working to stabilise and maintain gas pressure as demand rises sharply during winter.

He further explained that there is a higher domestic usage that has led the company to prioritise household and commercial consumers.

Karachi gas load shedding schedule

According to the notification, gas supply to all industrial consumers.

This includes captive power plants and all CNG stations (natural gas and RLNG-based).

It will be suspended for 48 hours, from 8:00 am on Saturday, January 17, to 8:00 AM on Monday, January 19.

SSGC also added that this temporary suspension of gas is a part of its seasonal gas load management plan. It helps to maintain a stable pressure of gas for homes and businesses.

Routine gas load management for domestic and commercial consumers will continue.

The gas will be cut from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM daily during winter.

Helpline

The company urged consumers to report any gas pressure issues during the suspension through its 24-hour helpline at 1199. Here, the dedicated staff will respond promptly.

SSGC also requested that the public and media share accurate information about the gas supply schedule.

It also noted that past misreporting on social media caused unnecessary concern among the citizens.

Karachi continues to face gas shortages amid cold weather, as demand for heating and cooking rises.

Gas supply remains suspended

In Peshawar and other districts of the province, severe disruptions in natural gas supply have emerged that have affected both domestic and industrial consumers.

According to sources, gas supply is being partly suspended in numerous areas. Whereas CNG stations operating for limited hours are failing to deliver full services.
