Islamabad United have appointed Luke Ronchi as their new Head Coach, marking the return of the fan favourite to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, as per an announcement made on Tuesday.
Luke Ronchi is a fan favourite who will now be a head coach for the Islamabad United. He represented the franchise for three seasons, from 2018 to 2020.

Ali Naqvi, owner of Islamabad United, said Ronchi is “Islamabad United through and through” and called him a “true sheru.”
He added that Ronchi is one of the most iconic overseas players in the league and has a unique bond with the team.
Naqvi further said that the franchise is excited to welcome him back as Head Coach.
“He understands our culture, our standards, and what it truly means to represent Islamabad United,” he said.
Luke Ronchi said Islamabad United has always felt like home. He said the bond with the team, the owners, the fans, and the entire ISLU family is very special.
“To return now as Head Coach is a huge honour,” Ronchi said. He added that Islamabad United stands for fearless cricket, character, and a winning mindset.
He added that he is excited to develop the next group of leaders and match-winners.

He played a key role in Islamabad United’s most memorable campaigns. His performances are part of PSL history.
He was named the Player of the Tournament in the 2018 PSL season. Ronchi was the highest run-scorer with 435 runs at a strike rate of 182.00. His score helped the Islamabad United win their second title.
His impact in the HBL Pakistan Super League goes beyond statistics. He is recognised as one of the most influential overseas players in the league.
After retiring as a player, he moved into coaching, working with the New Zealand national team as a batting coach before. He will now bring that experience to Islamabad United as their new head coach.
