Former Army Chief of Pakistan General Qamar Javed Bajwa has fallen inside his home and suffered minor injuries, according to a private television channel quoting family sources on Wednesday.
According to the latest reports, he has been admitted to a hospital in Rawalpindi city. He had fallen in his house on the previous day, Tuesday morning, at 4:30 AM, according to the family.
According to reports, he has been shifted to a local hospital after suffering minor injuries. Reports further suggest that the PTI propaganda that he was out of Pakistan has also been debunked.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa
Qamar Javed Bajwa is a retired four star general who served as the 16th Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan from November of the year 2016 to November of the year 2022.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who is the current Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, took his place later.
Bajwa joined the Pakistan Army in 1980, in the Baloch Regiment, and served for more than 40 years.
During his career, he held important positions. These positions include Corps Commander of X Corps in Rawalpindi, which is a key military formation.
He also served as Inspector General Training and Evaluation at General Headquarters. There, he oversaw training and operational readiness across the army.
He gained international experience by serving in UN peacekeeping missions, including in Congo.
During his time as army chief, his term was extended by three years. This kept him in office until November 2022.
His tenure saw security challenges, changing regional dynamics, and major domestic political events, according to the reports.
He was active in national security and counterterrorism operations and participated in regional diplomacy.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa and the military also engaged in economic matters and worked on strategic partnerships with countries. It included the United States (US) and the Gulf nations.
Since retiring in November of the year 2022, Bajwa has mostly stayed out of public attention.
