Rs50,000 announced for unemployed Pakistani graduates

As unemployment rises in Pakistan, the government has announced a new program to give Rs50,000 per month to unemployed university graduates.

The step is expected to stop talented graduates from leaving the country in search of jobs abroad.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said the one-year paid training program will focus on young engineers across Pakistan.

He added that “they will not remain unemployed or feel compelled to seek jobs abroad.”

The program will initially take in around 10,000 fresh graduate engineers. And place them on ongoing development projects across the country.

Each unemployed graduate will receive Rs50,000 per month to meet basic needs. In total, the initiative is expected to benefit about 50,000 engineers.
