Renowned Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad became emotional after not being selected in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 players’ draft.
Ahmed Shehzad appeared as a guest on a private TV channel’s programme. During the show, the host asked him how he felt about not being part of the PSL this year and also missing the previous two editions.
In response to this, he said that he does feel emotional when he sees all this.
‘My son wants to see me play’
He said, “I feel really sad. I want to play cricket. My fellow players are playing in the PSL, and I feel happy for them, but I feel sorry for myself and keep wondering what the reasons are that I cannot play.”
Ahmed Shehzad said he had given 18 years to Pakistan cricket, and seeing everything end suddenly makes him emotional and brings him to tears.
During the programme, Ahmed Shehzad also shared an emotional moment about his 9-year-old son.
He said that his son wants to see him play. He said his son sleeps next to him at night and tries to comfort him by saying that he remembers watching him play and will remember him properly this time.
Ahmed Shehzad said that although he is generally happy, this issue has deeply hurt him and caused him great sadness.
Ahmed Shehzad
It is worth noting that in 2023, Ahmed Shehzad had announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League, due to which his name was not included in the draft.
Previously, former cricketer Ahmed Shehzad talked about his personal struggles before getting into cricket.
In a podcast, while talking about his early days and his passion for cricket, he talked about the young cricket players.
“I was obsessed with cricket. My mother fulfilled all my needs. I used to walk an hour to reach the ground, practice in the nets, and was always the first one there, watering the pitch myself”, he said.
Blaming the young talent, he added, “These days, kids wake up and say they want to play PSL, and after scoring a single 50, they say play me for Pakistan. That’s why the national team is suffering.”
