Trump appears drowsy at Peace Board meeting

Donald Trump Peace Board

President Donald Trump seemed to have a difficult time staying awake during his first meeting of the so-called “Board of Peace” in Washington, DC.

Cameras captured moments where he closed his eyes as world leaders were speaking after giving a lengthy speech himself.

He is said to have rambled for more than 45 minutes before taking his seat on stage.

Throughout the event his eyelids seemed heavy but at one point he jolted upright when applause broke out around him.

Moments Caught on Camera

During speeches by international leaders, including Tony Blair, Trump was seen with his eyes closed and leaning slightly to the side.

Observers said he seemed to come out of his trance with applause.

The footage soon spread to the internet adding to the debate over his level of focus and stamina at long diplomatic gatherings.

Defence and Previous Incidents

This was not the first time the president has been scrutinised over similar moments.

He has been observed in the past closing his eyes during roundtables and Cabinet meetings in the White House.

Trump defended himself after previous incidents, saying he did not sleep during meetings but had simply closed his eyes after discussions went “boring.”

He also made the case that cameras recorded him during small moments of blinking rather than actual sleep.

However, critics noted inconsistencies between his explanation and the popular clips of the video.

Event Ends with Symbolic Signing

At the end of the three-hour gathering, Trump was still sitting while world leaders came around him during the signing of fundraising pledges.

He passed documents and pens to other people nearby, apparently treating the occasion like a ceremony.

The episode has once again sparked conversation about his age, energy, and performance during high-profile international engagements.
