Russia has become the first country to deliver humanitarian aid to Iran amid the ongoing conflict.
According to a social media post from the Russian Embassy in Kenya, a Russian Il-76 cargo plane carrying over 13 tons of medical supplies has landed in Azerbaijan.
From there, the aid will be transported by truck to the Iranian authorities.
The shipment, confirmed by the Russian Emergencies Ministry, includes medicines and medical equipment. Officials stated the operation was carried out on the orders of President Vladimir Putin.
The move comes as regional tensions continue to escalate, highlighting Russia’s growing role in humanitarian efforts in the area.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed that Iran will continue to defend its sovereignty and national unity, declaring that the country will not bow to external pressure under any circumstances.
According to Iranian media reports, President Pezeshkian strongly criticised Israel and the United States, accusing both countries of attempting to weaken and divide Iran.
He said the ongoing conflict targeting Iran is part of a broader effort to destabilise the country internally. “The enemies’ goal is to create division and unrest within Iran,” Pezeshkian said, stressing that the Iranian nation will remain united in the face of foreign pressure.
