Pakistan’s national cricketer Fakhar Zaman has addressed the ongoing criticism regarding his fitness, saying that he was not in a fit condition for 50-over cricket.
In a statement on social media, Fakhar reacted to comments made by former cricketer Abdul Rauf, who had raised questions about his fitness and selection.

“I was not 100 percent fit for 50-over cricket,” Fakhar stated, noting that the observations made by Aaqib Javed on the subject were correct.
The cricketer also disclosed that he passed his fitness test on March 15 and subsequently participated in the National T20 tournament.
Previously, Abdul Rauf had posted a photo of Fakhar Zaman‘s fielding on social media, expressing concerns about the selection committee’s decision and questioning his inclusion despite fitness issues.
Who is Fakhar Zaman?
Initially, Fakhar Zaman had spent over five years in Pakistan’s often-overlooked domestic circuit with little recognition.
As a left-handed opener with a notably high backlift, Zaman depends on power for his runs, which he has accumulated in abundance.
However, it was not until the Quaid-e-Azam trophy in 2016-17 that his performance began to attract attention.
Zaman amassed 663 runs in the tournament at an average of 51, including a remarkable 170 in the second innings of the final.
His performance led to a contract in the PSL with the Lahore Qalandars in 2017, where he would establish himself as a true legend, arguably the greatest batter in the league’s history.
Remaining with the franchise throughout his career, he became the second-highest run-scorer, with a strike rate in the 140s, significantly higher than that of Babar Azam, who has scored more runs.
The Qalandars have secured three PSL titles during his tenure, with Zaman playing crucial roles in each championship.
