Lahore Qalandars have fined their captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi Rs1 million following a security breach at the team hotel.
In a statement, the franchise said the matter had been investigated internally and described the incident as a misunderstanding rather than a deliberate violation.
Shaheen Afridi fined heavily
According to officials, the issue arose when Afridi allowed guests of teammate Sikandar Raza into the players’ room despite security staff denying permission.
The team said it had informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after completing its inquiry.
It added that some reports had exaggerated the situation and did not reflect the facts.
The franchise said the decision to fine Afridi was taken in the interest of maintaining discipline and accountability within the squad.
It also reiterated its commitment to following security protocols during the tournament.
Mixed start to PSL campaign
Lahore Qalandars are currently competing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 and have had a mixed start to their campaign.
They won their opening match against Hyderabad Kingsmen on March 26 but lost their second game to Karachi Kings by four wickets.
Additional penalties in ball tampering case
During the match against Karachi, the Qalandars were also handed a five-run penalty for altering the condition of the ball.
Batsman Fakhar Zaman was charged with a Level 3 offence under the code of conduct for an alleged breach related to ball tampering rules.
The incidents come as teams continue to face strict enforcement of playing and security regulations during the tournament.
