Drivers with no number plate to be booked in case, not fined: IG Sindh

Inspector General (IG) Sindh Javed Alam Odho said on Wednesday that those who are driving their vehicles without number plates will no longer be issued challans but will be booked for a case.

According to the details, IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho said that a campaign is underway in the city against those driving without number plates. In addition, the people who are not obeying the laws are being identified through Safe City cameras.

He further said that action will be taken against those who repeatedly violate traffic rules and use illegal tactics to avoid e-challan cameras.

For example, the people who make the number plate invisible, obscure the number plate or distort the number plate.

Javed Alam Odho further added that apart from Safe City cameras in Karachi, there were 30,000 cameras, which have now increased to 40,000.

‘I will ask the traders to install more cameras themselves so that the monitoring system is improved,’ he added.

IG Sindh further stated that the amount of e-challan in Sindh has been kept equal to the amount of e-challan in Punjab, and now its amount has been further increased in Punjab.

He said that CCTV cameras have helped in solving 70 per cent of the cases, and there has been an overall decrease in extortion incidents. Only a few of the cases of extortion have been reported in District Central.

IG Sindh province, Javed Alam Odho, said that they are tightening the noose against the famous extortionists living abroad, according to the reports.

He added that their red warrants have been received and that arrests will be made soon.

The facilitators of the extortion gangs present in Karachi will also be arrested, he informed, according to the reports.

Phase II of Safe City project across Karachi

Previously, the Chief Minister (CM) of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, approved Phase II of the Karachi Safe City Project. He emphasised that the Safe City project is crucial for ensuring public safety and preventing crime.

He said that protecting the lives and property of citizens is the government’s highest priority. Further, he added that security measures will be improved through the use of modern technology.
