The Government of Pakistan has announced work from home for offices located in Islamabad’s Red Zone on Thursday, 23rd April 2026.
The update has also been shared by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, on the social media platform X, previously Twitter.
Red Zone closure extended
The DC stated, “As per notification issued by the Cabinet Division, Government of Pakistan, all Ministries, Divisions, and Federal Government offices located within the Red Zone, Islamabad will observe Work From Home on Thursday, 23rd April 2026.”
The post further added, “All officers and staff have been directed to remain available and report to the office if required on short notice. Citizens are advised to plan accordingly and stay updated through official channels.”

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division of Pakistan, all ministries, divisions, and federal offices in the Red Zone will not operate from their workplaces on that day.
The staff have been asked to stay at home but remain available and report to the office if needed on short notice.
Authorities have said that citizens should stay updated through official channels. Citizens have been advised to plan their work accordingly.
The Red Zone in Islamabad has been placed on high alert due to strict security measures.
This development has come as reports suggest that the second round of the Islamabad peace talks 2026 may continue, after the first round was held on April 11 and 12 between the United States (US) and Iran.
The notification also confirmed that all federal offices in Islamabad will remain closed. And that the employees will continue to work from home until further notice.
Have market, malls closure timings in Islamabad changed
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, has clarified on the social media platform X that a fake notification regarding revised shop closure timings is being circulated on Wednesday.
The DC informed that the federal capital’s administration ‘has NOT issued any new notification today in this regard.’
He further requested the citizens to rely only on official sources for authentic information and avoid sharing unverified content.
