Sindh Traffic police fines

To reduce traffic fines the Punjab Assembly has passed an amendment bill by majority vote.

After approval by Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider, for motorcycle challans the minimum fine will be set at Rs1,000 and the maximum at Rs2,000.

With a majority vote the motor Vehicle Ordinance 2025 was approved by the assembly. According to the bill, motorcycle fines have been reduced from Rs2,000 to Rs1,000, while the maximum fine for motorcycles will now be Rs2,000.

For rickshaws, fines for certain violations have been reduced from Rs3,000 to Rs1,000, while serious violations will carry a penalty of Rs2,000.

Fines for cars and jeeps for certain violations have been lowered from Rs5,000 to Rs2,000.

However, fines for over speeding for motorcycles, rickshaws, and cars will remain unchanged. Penalties for luxury vehicles have been reduced from Rs20,000 to Rs10,000.

For vehicles up to 2000cc, the minimum fine will be Rs2,000 and the maximum Rs10,000.

Fines for Mazda trucks, coasters, and light passenger vehicles have been reduced from Rs20,000 to Rs7,000, while the maximum fine for trucks, buses, and other heavy vehicles has been cut from Rs20,000 to Rs10,000.

Speeding crackdown intensifies

Previously, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) stepped up enforcement in the central region by issuing more than 12,990 challans for speeding violations in March 2026.

The step had been taken as part of an ongoing crackdown.

The campaign came under a strict zero tolerance policy targeting speeding. The officials wanted to improve road safety and significantly reduce traffic accidents across the region.

According to the provided data, MC-1 Lahore recorded 5,641 fines for breaches of the newly placed speed limits.

In addition to this, the N-5 Central Zone in Lahore issued 3,597 challans during a targeted operation against traffic violations on highways.
