All-rounder Nawaz responds to ICC over drug use allegations

Pakistan’s renowned all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has submitted his written response to the International Cricket Council (ICC) following allegations of drug use, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The development comes after Nawaz reportedly tested positive in a doping test, prompting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to launch an internal investigation. The ICC has since taken up the case and initiated formal proceedings.

The media reports indicate that the ICC is expected to announce its decision soon regarding any potential disciplinary action against the cricketer. If found guilty, Nawaz could face sanctions under international anti-doping regulations.

The case has drawn significant attention within the cricketing community, as officials await the outcome of the investigation and the ICC’s final ruling.

A PCB spokesperson stated that the ICC has begun formal proceedings in the case and will see the process through to completion.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board had decided to launch a formal investigation into the matter, raising fresh concerns for the national team.

According to sources, the test was conducted during the last ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where Nawaz’s sample reportedly showed evidence of a banned or recreational substance. The International Cricket Council has formally informed the PCB about the findings.

Reports suggest that the PCB initiated an immediate internal investigation after receiving the details from the ICC. Sources further state that the test indicates the use of recreational drugs, which will be handled in accordance with the relevant regulations.
