On-campus university classes resumed

Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) has announced the resumption of all on-campus academic activities from April 27, according to an official notification issued by the university administration.

The notification stated that previously implemented austerity measures will remain in force despite the reopening of campus operations.

All departments and relevant offices have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the issued instructions, as approved by the competent authority.

Restoration of transport in Islamabad

The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has also announced about the restoration of transport operations across the federal capital earlier on Saturday.

As a result of this, all public and goods transport will be allowed to enter the city.

Bus stands across Islamabad have been reopened to facilitate commuters and reduce travel difficulties.

However, the Faizabad bus terminal will remain closed until further notice. Authorities have not given a timeline for its reopening.

They said that the decision will depend on the situation in the area.

It is worth mentioning here that earlier, the motorway from Lahore to Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as well as public transport on the Grand Trunk Road, had also been suspended.

Revised shop, business timings announced in Islamabad

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, on Saturday, announced revised timings for shops, malls and business closure in the federal capital.

In a post on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, the DC announced the revised rimings along with an official notification.

He states that in continuation of the austerity measures, the District Administration of Islamabad has revised closing timings for the commercial and recreational sectors.

These timings will be effective from April 23, 2026, until further notice.

Under the new orders, shops, markets and shopping malls will close by 8:00 PM throughout the week. However, an exemption has been granted to pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations and dairy shops.

Restaurants, tandoors, grocery stores and other food outlets must shut by 10:00 PM. But the takeaway and delivery services will not be affected by the time restriction.

Marriage halls, marquees and event venues, as well as sports facilities, clubs and gyms, will also be required to close by 10:00 PM.
