Shoaib Malik calls for longer gym timings in Punjab

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to extend gym operating hours across the province.

In a post on X, Malik acknowledged that regulating business hours is a positive move, but emphasised that gyms and fitness centres should be given special exemptions to better serve the public.

He explained that most office workers prefer to exercise after work, so extending gym hours until 10 pm would help promote a healthier society.

Shoaib Malik further emphasised that health is as important as food, and easy access to fitness facilities is essential for building a better and stronger Pakistan.

On the other hand, strict action against traffic violations has officially begun across Punjab, including Lahore, as authorities enforce a zero-tolerance policy.

According to the DIG Traffic Punjab, a two-week awareness campaign was conducted before the crackdown to educate citizens about traffic rules. In Lahore, special “Rahbar Squad” teams and safety camps were set up to guide commuters and promote responsible road behaviour.

The awareness drive was widely broadcast across social media and mainstream media platforms to ensure maximum public outreach. Citizens were informed about key traffic regulations, including lane discipline, adherence to road lines, mandatory use of helmets and seat belts, and observance of one-way rules.
