The Inter Board’s “Super High-Power Vigilance Team” conducted a surprise inspection of exam centres in Central District and caught seven students using mobile phones to cheat during exams.
As per details, the raid was led by Inter Board Chairman Professor Faqir Muhammad Lakho, who personally visited several exam centres in the area along with the vigilance team.
During the operation, large-scale cheating attempts were foiled as mobile phones were recovered from students involved in unfair means. At Government College for Boys Nazimabad, eight mobile phones were recovered from candidates during the inspection, while seven students were caught red-handed using mobile phones for cheating at another centre.
The Inter Board chairman stated that the answer sheets of all candidates involved in cheating were immediately confiscated and the cases have been forwarded to the board’s “Unfair Means Committee” for further legal and disciplinary action.
During the visit, college staff also raised concerns regarding external interference in the examination process.
Taking immediate notice, the chairman deployed two police mobile units outside Ship Owner College to ensure transparency and maintain order during examinations.
The inspection team also included Assistant Commissioner Nazimabad Nematullah Chachar and SUPLA Central President Munawar Abbas, who reviewed discipline and monitoring arrangements at the centres.
Karachi inter exam begins: First paper leaks online
The annual intermediate examinations under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Karachi (BIEK) began on April 29, 2026 (Wednesday), but the process was marred by a paper leak on the very first day.
According to reports, the Botany paper was leaked on social media shortly after the exam began. Later, a solved version of the same paper also surfaced in various WhatsApp groups, raising serious concerns about the transparency of the examination process.
The exams are being conducted under a new policy, which includes a 30-page paper to be attempted within three hours. Additionally, candidates are provided a 20-page answer booklet for a two-hour section. A Digital Attendance Monitoring System has also been introduced to improve oversight during the examinations.
BIEK officials stated that the intermediate exams will be conducted in phases.
Meanwhile, the board has advised students who have not received their admit cards by April 25 to obtain duplicate copies from the relevant section at the board office.
Candidates applying for duplicate admit cards are required to present their examination form and fee payment receipt, registration card or proof of registration submission, along with a photocopy of their matriculation mark sheet.
