Pakistan awaits the sighting of the Zil Hajj 2026 moon as millions of people prepare to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha. The latest update is here.

Moon has been sighted in Pakistan, announced the Central Ruet e Hilal Committee, now Eid will be celebrated on May 27th in the country.

The meeting of the Central Ruet e Hilal Committee was held at the office of the Meteorological Department in Karachi. While meetings of the zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees were held in different cities of the country.

Earlier, according to the details shared by Suparco, atmospheric and astronomical conditions appear to be favourable for the crescent moon to be sighted on the evening of May 17.

Zil Hajj 2026 moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court called on Muslims across the Kingdom to sight the crescent moon marking the beginning of the month of Dhul Hijjah on the evening of Sunday, May 17, 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday, the court urged anyone who sees the crescent with the naked eye or through binoculars to report to the nearest court and register their testimony, or contact the nearest center for assistance in reaching the court.

Eid-ul-Azha preparations in Pakistan

The Punjab Local Government Department has issued special instructions to make sure of cleanliness, security, and proper arrangements across the province during the festive days.

According to the department, temporary cattle sale points across Punjab will be fully active by Sunday. In addition to this, strict action will be taken against the sale of sacrificial animals on roadsides.

Eid al-Azha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is observed by Muslims around the world to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
