Security forces have killed two militants during separate operations in the Rodenjo area of Balochistan after armed men attempted to block roads and target civilian traffic, according to reports on Monday.
The operations were carried out on May 18 after reports of militant movement near Rodenjo Cross and the surrounding areas.
According to the sources, armed militants first attempted to establish a roadblock near the Raij checkpoint.
Security personnel engaged the militants as soon as they reached the road. They forced them to flee towards the nearby hills.
Reinforcement troops later launched an operation to follow them east of the Raij checkpoint. They recovered two motorcycles that are believed to have been used by the militants.
In a separate incident later the same day, militants tried to block a road and set fire to two trailers near Gaiwan village. This happened around five kilometres south of Rodenjo Cross.
The trailers were part of a convoy travelling from Bencha towards Kalat when the attackers opened fire on two vehicles and attempted to damage the drivers’ cabins, according to the sources.
Security forces quickly responded and spotted two suspected militants moving east of Gaiwan village.
During the next chase and exchange of fire, both militants were killed, and their bodies were recovered from the area.
Security forces also recovered a cache of weapons and equipment, including an M-16 rifle, a submachine gun, hand grenades, magazines, mobile phones, communication devices, and motorcycles.
The convoy and drivers were later moved back to Kalat safely, the sources add further.
Pakistan already a global reality, nuclear power: ISPR
Inter-Services Public Relations on Sunday warned that any attempt to target Pakistan could trigger consequences that would not remain geographically limited and would be neither strategically nor politically acceptable for India.
The statement came in response to recent remarks by Indian Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi, who said that “Pakistan should decide if it desired to be part of geography and history.”
