US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a tense phone call over the ongoing war with Iran, with both leaders disagreeing on the next steps.
According to Axios, Washington is pushing for a diplomatic deal, while Netanyahu wants military action to continue.
During the call on Wednesday, Trump reportedly informed Netanyahu that mediators were working on a “letter of intent” aimed at ending the conflict and starting a month-long negotiation period. The talks would reportedly cover Iran’s nuclear program and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The two leaders strongly disagreed on how to move forward. Netanyahu reportedly warned that delaying strikes would benefit Iran. He urged Trump not to pause military operations.
The Axios report also said the United States has sent a new proposal to Iran through mediators. Iranian semi-official news agency Tasnim reported that Tehran is reviewing the proposal, but no final decision has been made yet.

Netanyahu stated in a segment of an interview scheduled to air later on Sunday during CBS’s “60 Minutes” program, “It’s not over, as there remains nuclear material, enriched uranium, that needs to be removed from Iran. There are still enrichment facilities that must be dismantled.”
When questioned about the method of uranium removal, the Israeli leader responded, “You go in, and you take it out.”
