Reports also suggest that the upcoming budget may bring major relief for salaried people. The government is considering several proposals to reduce economic pressure that is caused by inflation.

One of the main proposals is a 10 per cent increase in salaries for government employees.

Officials are also discussing tax relief for salaried workers and pensioners. Another proposal includes merging one of the ad hoc allowances into the basic salary. This could also increase pensions and other long term benefits.

Sources say that the government may also offer tax relief to people earning between Rs100,000 and Rs200,000 per month.

In addition to this, officials are considering lower income tax rates for people earning between Rs1.2 million and Rs2.2 million per year. This income group will have a large part of Pakistan’s salaried middle class.

The government is expected to focus on inflation relief and economic stability in the new budget.

Analysts believe that the officials may also try to improve tax collection, control inflation, and provide targeted subsidies.

The final budget proposals will be confirmed after approval from the federal cabinet and Parliament on June 5.
