Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered strict monitoring of WASA operations to ensure the quick removal of rainwater during heavy showers.
She directed all concerned departments across Punjab to stay on high alert during the rainy season and continuously monitor stormwater drains and canals. She also instructed irrigation department teams to closely monitor canal water levels to prevent flooding in urban areas.
The chief minister ordered authorities to make sure that manhole covers remain secure in both cities and villages. She also directed officials to take safety measures at construction sites to avoid accidents.
Maryam Nawaz asked departments to pay special attention to weak and damaged buildings and ensure proper traffic management and public guidance across the province.
She directed district administrations to issue warnings about possible roof collapses during heavy rains. She also instructed Safe City Authority and CTO teams to remain fully alert and keep traffic moving smoothly on major roads and highways.
The chief minister emphasised that all field teams must remain fully prepared and all departments must stay active and vigilant to protect the lives and property of citizens during the rainy season.
