Monsoon alert issued to authorities in Lahore

Commissioner Maryam Khan has instructed all relevant agencies in Lahore to stay alert due to the rain and to ensure proper drainage systems are in place ahead of the monsoon season.

The Commissioner of Lahore stated that the rainfall is being monitored continuously from 16 different locations in the city, and all pumping stations and camps set up in sensitive areas have been ordered to be prepared.

In view of the situation, she further instructed the WASA administration to keep all drainage machinery in good working order and to have backup systems ready at disposal stations at all times.

The Commissioner of Lahore emphasised that emergency teams must ensure quick drainage in low-lying areas, main roads, and places affected by rain to reduce the risk of flooding.

She also directed that teams from WASA, Lahore Development Authority, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore, and Central Business District should be fully operational in their designated areas for the monsoon season.

Additionally, the Commissioner of Lahore ordered that machinery should be kept active to avoid water buildup in underpasses and that all disposal stations should operate at full capacity.
