Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that in the upcoming elections, safeguarding Form 45 is the responsibility of the people, stressing that “Form 47 will not be accepted” and that elections will be transparent. He urged voters to remain vigilant and protect their mandate.
Addressing an election rally in Gulabpur, a locality of Shigar in Gilgit-Baltistan, Bilawal Bhutto said that Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir played an important role in the Iran–US ceasefire and also demonstrated strong performance during “Operation Haq”.
He added that the Sindh government has completed a major welfare initiative by constructing 2 million houses for low-income families, describing it as a significant step toward public welfare and social protection.
On Gilgit-Baltistan, the PPP chairman said the region’s people must have full rights over its natural resources and minerals, and the benefits of these resources should directly reach the local population. He stated that development in Gilgit-Baltistan would benefit the entire country, including Islamabad.
Bilawal Bhutto also condemned the Iran–US conflict and stressed that peace in the region is essential for global stability. He reiterated that empowering Gilgit-Baltistan remains part of the PPP manifesto, and under the 18th Constitutional Amendment, the party seeks equal rights for the region as enjoyed by other provinces.
He further said the PPP will work to align Gilgit-Baltistan elections with general elections in Pakistan to ensure greater transparency and political consistency. He emphasised that decision-making authority should be devolved to the local level so that public issues can be resolved effectively.
Calling Shigar a stronghold of the PPP, Bilawal expressed confidence that the party would secure victory in the upcoming elections in the area.
