Sindh approves SEEF scholarships for 2,662 students: details here

The Sindh government has approved university scholarships for 2,662 students from Sindh for the academic year 2025-26, according to reports on Monday.

The approval was given during a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Sindh Education Endowment Fund (SEEF), chaired by Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah.

The board also approved the renewal of scholarships for 5,853 students who are already studying under the SEEF scholarship programme, so they can continue their education.

During the meeting, it was shared that SEEF scholarships are helping students from Sindh pursue higher education in 92 universities across Pakistan.

By 2026, the total SEEF fund will reach Rs11,616.7 million. The profit earned from this investment is used to pay student scholarships.

The Sindh government adds Rs2 billion every year to increase the education endowment fund.

The Education Endowment Fund was established in 2002. So far, 42,169 students have completed higher education at different universities with its support.

Speaking at the meeting, Syed Sardar Ali Shah said the fund was created to support talented and financially struggling students in getting higher education.

He said the SEEF scholarship allows students from Sindh to study at public and private universities across the country.

The education minister said the government’s goal is to provide equal opportunities for deserving students to receive quality education.

He directed officials to review the investment system of the endowment fund. And to make it more effective, so that more profit can be earned and the number of scholarships can be increased.

The meeting also decided that the SEEF Executive Committee will present recommendations to increase scholarships in universities.

The minister said that universities should select fields of study that will be more important in the future for SEEF scholarships.

It was also decided to digitise the entire SEEF system to improve transparency. The board also approved a third-party audit of SEEF to help improve the institution’s performance, as per the reports.
