The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), on Tuesday, announced official trials to select players for the national junior hockey team on June 18 and 19.
Trials for the junior team will take place at Naseer Banda Hockey Stadium during the present training camp in Islamabad.
According to the official announcement from PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, a special selection committee will look over the trials.
This committee includes Olympian Samiullah Khan as Chief Selector, along with Olympian Nasir Ali and Olympian Naeem Akhtar as members.
The performance of the players and fitness will be carefully reviewed to choose the most skilled and appropriate athletes for the national junior hockey team.
The Selection Committee will also be supported technically by Head Coach Olympian Ayaz Mahmood, Coach Olympian Syed Samir Hussain, and Coach International Azfar Yaqoob.
It is important to note that these trials have received final approval from the PHF president to ensure that the team is selected only based on merit.
PHF sets out to strengthen preparation of U-21 hockey team
Earlier, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) worked to improve the fitness levels of the Junior Under-21 hockey team, aligning player preparation with modern standards.
In line with these efforts, a special session was held for the junior team, overseen by senior sports nutrition expert Dr. Nabeel, according to a press release.
During this session, players were informed about all nutrition-related challenges they face and were given practical solutions.
