The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced a scheduled power shutdown in multiple areas of Lahore on Wednesday, June 17.

LESCO has reasoned that the shutdown with maintenance and upgradation work to be carried out on the electricity transmission system.

According to an official notification, electricity supply will remain suspended from 8:00am to 2:00pm in areas connected to multiple feeders and grid stations across the city.

LESCO said the planned shutdown is aimed at improving the stability and efficiency of the power network while enabling major repair work to be completed safely.

The affected areas include those served by the Bhaipheru, Chungi, EMCO, Ghazi, Kahna, Khana Kachha, Mominpura, Qila Star Shah, Makkah Colony, Sarfraz Nagar, Shalimar, Sukh Chayn, Gujjumata, Liaquatabad and New Kot Lakhpat grid stations.

Under the Bhaipheru grid station, power supply will remain suspended on the BBJ and Manga Mandi 1 and 3 feeders. The New Chungi, Shahkam, and ICC Textile feeders under the Chungi grid station will also be affected.

Meanwhile, the EMCO grid station will remain shut during the maintenance period, affecting consumers in Kot Abdul Malik, Madina Glass and Starlet industrial and residential areas.

LESCO has advised residents and businesses to plan their activities in advance and cooperate during the scheduled outage. The utility company said electricity supply would be restored immediately after the completion of maintenance work.

The company added that the temporary disruption is necessary to strengthen the transmission system and ensure a more reliable power supply in the future.
