Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has welcomed the announcement of a reduction in petroleum product prices and directed authorities to take immediate steps to lower transport and goods fares across the province.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the public for their support during challenging times and appreciated the Prime Minister and his team for the decision to reduce fuel prices.
Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif announced a major reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel.
Maryam Nawaz said that the Prime Minister had fulfilled his promise of reducing petroleum prices once the regional situation improved. She stated that saving the nation from an energy crisis in a challenging regional environment was a historic achievement of the Prime Minister.
She further said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had helped avert an energy and economic crisis, and that the full benefit of the reduction in petroleum prices should reach the people in every case.
Meanwhile, JI Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that petrol prices should be reduced to Rs 225 per litre immediately. He added that, in light of the reduction in petroleum prices, food prices should also decrease accordingly.
It is worth mentioning here that the Prime Minister has announced a reduction in the prices of petrol by 74 rupees per litre and diesel by 67 rupees per litre.
In a post on X, he said the new per-litre prices of petrol will be 299 rupees and diesel 311 rupees.
The Prime Minister said dividends of the improved regional situation and reduced oil prices are being passed on to the public.
He said the government is fully aware of common people’s hardships, who demonstrated exemplary patience and resilience in this difficult situation. He expressed gratitude to the masses for standing by the government during these testing times.
