Spain came back strong in the FIFA World Cup, dominating Saudi Arabia 4-0 in their group H game on Sunday.
It marked the return from injury for teenage star Lamine Yamal as he scored the opening goal within 10 minutes of the match in Atlanta.
The 18-year-old has been deemed fit enough to play his first match in two months after battling a hamstring injury.
Following an unexpected 0-0 draw with Cape Verde in their first match, Spain were keen to get back on the track.
They began the game aggressively and soon got a grip on it. Mikel Oyarzabal was a major contributor, helping Yamal set up his goal to be followed by Oyarzabal’s own two goals in just three minutes.
His goals put Spain ahead 3-0 after just 24 minutes.
In the early part of the second half, a shot from Marc Cucurella was saved by Saudi keeper Mohammed Al-Owais but deflected by defender Hassan Al-Tambakti into the Saudi net for an own goal.
With four points after two games, Spain advanced to the top of Group H.
Later on Sunday, a match between Uruguay and Cape Verde also took place. The match ended in a draw with both teams scoring two goals. The viral goal keeper of Cape Verde, Vozinha, also played the match.
His mother has also arrived at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Another match on Sunday was between Iran and Belgium. This match also ended up in a draw. With no goals scored by either side.
The highlight of the match was the Iranian goalkeeper Alireza who like Vozinha saved seven goals against Belgium.
The Iranian keeper saved Iran’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages. The whole match Belgium was very dominating, possessing the ball for majority of the time.
