Heatwave alert: Temperature to soar in Lahore

Severe heat expected in Islamabad today

Lahore is experiencing a further increase in temperature, with intense sunshine making the weather hot and humid across the city. Although clouds were visible in some areas, the weather department has ruled out any possibility of rain today.

According to the Meteorological Department, the current temperature in Lahore stands at 36°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 38°C during the day. The minimum temperature is forecast to remain around 30°C.

Humidity levels have been recorded at 51 per cent, while winds are blowing at a speed of 6 kilometres per hour. However, the breeze has provided little relief from the prevailing heat and discomfort.

The weather department said dry weather conditions are likely to persist over the next few days, with no rainfall expected during this period.

Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, drink plenty of water, and take precautionary measures to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.

Earlier, the weather became pleasant and refreshing from the heat with rainfall of different intensities in different cities of the country.

The overnight rainfall that occurred in several parts of the country significantly improved the weather conditions, detail shows. The rainfall was reported in certain localities of Lahore like Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, Township, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, PECO Road, Kacha Jail Road, Kot Lakhpat and its nearby localities, followed by a cool breeze, which resulted in a temperature drop.

The city’s temperature is 30 degrees Celsius and the humidity is 53 per cent, the Meteorological Department said. The maximum wind speed recorded is about 6 km per hour.

The highest temperature is likely to be 36 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature is likely to be around 28 degrees Celsius, the department added.
