US conducts strikes on Iran after attack on cargo ship in Strait of Hormuz

The United States (US), on Friday launched strikes on Iran after an attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump called the recent drone attacks on the ship in Hormuz a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

According to the US Central Command, a US aircraft hit Iranian missile and drone storage locations. Coastal radar sites were also struck.

Trump shared on Truth Social that Iran had launched nearly four drone strikes at ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

One of the strikes hit the upper deck of a cargo ship while the US struck down the remaining three drones launched by Iran.

A Singaporean flagged cargo ship, the M/V Ever Lovely, was hit when it was leaving the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast.

Trump said, “Obviously, this is a foolish violation of our ceasefire agreement.”

The US Central Command further stated, “The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire.”
