The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will begin an online teacher training programme across the province during the summer holidays, according to reports on Tuesday. The programme will help to improve teaching standards in its partner schools.
According to PEF, the Teachers Development Program (TDP) will start on July 1. The training will be held online so teachers can attend from their homes.
Punjab online teacher training
The programme will focus on modern teaching methods, classroom management, and better ways to teach students.
PEF has directed every partner school to register at least two teachers for the training. The programme is mandatory for all partner schools.
Teachers who complete the course will become master trainers. They will then train other teachers in their own schools and help to improve their teaching skills as well.
PEF officials said that the programme aims to improve teachers’ skills and support their professional growth.
They said better trained teachers will help improve the quality of education for students in partner schools across Punjab.
The foundation said the training is also part of its plan to bring more digital learning and modern teaching methods into classrooms.
PEF’s teacher training system
The programme is based on PEF’s current teacher training system. Teachers receive online subject based lessons, classroom support, and guidance from trainers. They also have to complete assessments before receiving e certificates.
Education experts have often said that teacher training is one of the best ways to improve student learning and classroom performance.
In recent months, the Punjab government has introduced several digital training programmes for teachers.
Written test is mandatory for appointment of head teachers
Separately, the Punjab School Education Department announced that it would conduct a written test for the appointment of head teachers in government schools.
According to the details, the written test will be conducted tomorrow under the supervision of the Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA).
