PHF announces trials to select players for U-21, U-18 national hockey teams

The Pakistan Hockey Federation has announced the dates for the selection trials for players of the Pakistan Under-21 (U-21) and Under-18 (U-18) national hockey teams.

Under the directives of PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani and PHF Professional Development Committee, National Selection Committee along with national head coaches, the trials were officially sheduled.

The Pakistan Under-21 (U-21) trials are expected to be held on July 3 and 4 at 5:00 PM at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Under-18 (U-18) hockey team trials will be held on July 5 at 5:00 PM at the POF Hockey Academy in Wah Cantt.

The National Selection Committee will carry out the trials. The committee is led by Olympian Samiullah Khan and members include Naeem Akhtar, Nasir Ali, Kashif Jawad, Atif Bashir and M. Khalid.

A member of the PHF Professional Development Committee, Hasan Sardar is further expected to supervise the U-18 and U-21 hockey trials.

At the same time, the POF Hockey Academy in Wah Cantt will also witness the Pakistan U-18 training camp for the Men’s Hockey 5s Asian Championship starting on July 1.

The Championship will be held from July 20 to 25, 2026 in Muscat, Oman.

Selected players have been requested to report to head coach Muhammad Qamar Ibrahim by 7:00 PM on July 1.

The squad for the training camp includes four goalkeepers, four defenders, four midfielders along with ten forwards from Customs, Army and provinces including Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Head coach Muhammad Qamar Ibrahim, coach Rehan Butt and a physiotherapist Adil Akhtar will be present at the camp as officials.

Every participant in the training camp has also been advised to bring along their No Objection Certificate (NOC), a passport valid for up to at least six months, eight passport sized photographs with a white background and playing kits in both colour and white.
