Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has said that patients with colds, flu and fever should not come to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

According to ARY News, while addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said that we want to reduce the burden of patients on PIMS Hospital, therefore patients with colds, flu and fever should not come to PIMS Hospital.

The Federal Minister said that PIMS Hospital was established in 1984. At that time, Islamabad’s population was seven lakh, whereas today it is approaching five million.

Earlier, 200 patients used to come, but now 7,000 to 9,000 patients arrive daily, and along with their attendants, a gathering of 35,000 to 40,000 people is formed.

He said that the country’s health situation is not ideal, the primary healthcare system is still not strong, and this is our own shortcoming.

The FFR Plus machine at PIMS Hospital has now become operational, and heart patients will now receive treatment here free of cost. Earlier, there were some issues in this regard, which have now been reduced.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) has received a complaint against doctors at PIMS Hospital.

In the complaint, the relatives of the deceased patient have alleged negligence by doctors of the Pulmonology Department at PIMS and have demanded that the IHRA take action against them.

The Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority has sought a response from the PIMS hospital administration. The PIMS administration and the Head of the Pulmonology Department have been asked to submit a reply within seven days, while the IHRA has also sought the patient’s medical record from the hospital administration.

The relatives have alleged serious negligence by the PIMS doctors during the biopsy, stating that the doctors took a liver tissue sample instead of a lung tissue sample during the biopsy. They said the patient’s biopsy was performed with the assistance of an ultrasound test, and that written notes of the biopsy procedure are available.

The PIMS administration’s stance is that the patient died due to a heart attack, not because of the biopsy. It said the patient’s relatives did not submit an application seeking action, and that an inquiry will be conducted if the relatives submit a complaint.
