Punjab government has decided to seal 766 non-registered private educational institutions across the district of Lahore, the private media outlet reported on Tuesday.
According to the details, considering the safety of children, the Punjab government sealed 766 non-registered private institutions in Lahore. The development after the roof collapse incident of a tuition centre in the Kahna area of Lahore.
The media report confirmed that 766 non-registered private institutions are currently operational in the entire district, adding that most of these institutions are non-registered tuition centres.
The Punjab Education Department formed a high-level committee to monitor the structure and safety of private educational institutions. The notification on this development has been issued.
According to the notification, the Deputy District Education Officer and various zonal officers will serve as key members of this committee; additionally, to enhance the effectiveness of monitoring, inspectors from the Punjab Education Foundation (or the relevant registration authority, PERA) and the Planning Department have also been nominated as members.
The notification also said that the designated committee members will visit all the private institutions in Lahore to monitor all the basic facilities, including building infrastructure and safety initiatives.
The committee will submit its detailed report in the next five days.
