Govt school in Pakistan gets prestigious worlds best school award

A government girls’ school in Hyderabad, Sindh, has brought international recognition to Pakistan. It got shortlisted among the world’s best educational institutions in the World’s Best School Prizes 2026.

The World’s Best School Prizes, organised annually by the global education organisation T4 Education, honour schools that have made exceptional contributions to improving learning standards, supporting students and creating a positive impact within society. The awards are regarded as one of the most prestigious international recognitions in the education sector. A limited number of institutions are selected as finalists after a strict evaluation process.

Pakistan has secured two places this year among the finalists. One of the shortlisted institutions is a private school from Punjab, while the other is the Government Girls Lower Secondary School Tando Mir Ghulam Hussain, located in Hyderabad, Sindh. The government school has earned a place among the top 10 finalists globally in the Community Collaboration category. This shows the successful efforts of the school to work closely with parents, local residents and community organisations.

Additionally, the nomination reflects the school’s commitment not only to academic excellence but also to creating an inclusive learning environment for the students.

Moreover, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah congratulated the school’s administration, principal, teachers, students, parents and members of the community for the remarkable achievement. He said the recognition is far more than a success for a single educational institution and is a proud moment for Sindh’s education system and the government.

He added that the achievement demonstrates the potential of public-sector schools to compete with leading educational institutions from around the world when provided with dedicated teachers and community support. The recognition also reflects the hard work and commitment of everyone associated with the school.

On the other hand, the Punjab School Education Department announced that it would conduct a written test for the appointment of head teachers in government schools.

According to the details, the written test will be conducted tomorrow under the supervision of the Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA).

The Punjab School Education Department directed relevant authorities to install CCTV cameras in exam centres.

The department also urged authorities for the uninterrupted supply of electricity during the exam hours. Similarly, the department was ordered to provide fast internet and smart tablets to applicants.

The Punjab School Education Department also decided to nominate a focal person to contact PECTAA in every district of the province.

The letter has directed all district authorities to provide full cooperation for the transparent and effective conduct of the examination. In this regard, the School Education Department has issued a formal letter to the CEOs Education.
