Al-Mirsad
Recently, a study by the Centre for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR) at the University of Lahore identified Afghan media outlet Al-Mirsad as a propaganda platform linked to the Afghan Taliban’s intelligence system.
The report said that the platform is being used to spread anti Pakistan narratives and weaken public trust in the country’s institutions.
According to the study, Al-Mirsad was launched in 2023, and it is not an independent media outlet, reports say.
According to the reports, it said that the platform operates under the Taliban’s leadership. And that it is used to promote its narratives while targeting Pakistan.
According to the details, the CSSPR study said Al-Mirsad publishes content in several languages. These include English, Urdu, Pashto, Arabic, Dari and Hindi.
According to the report, the platform shares its content through Telegram, X, WhatsApp and YouTube.
It also said the platform uses advanced digital tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), to help spread its content to a wider audience.
False claims by Afghan media
Recently, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information rejected Afghan media reports claiming that Pakistan had carried out attacks on a university and residential areas in Afghanistan’s Kunar province.
In a statement, the ministry called the reports baseless. It further described them as propaganda by Indian-backed Afghan media.
The ministry said the Afghan media was spreading false reports about the alleged attacks in Kunar.
It also claimed that the Afghan Taliban government was using misinformation instead of focusing on governance and public welfare.
The statement further said Pakistan would officially announce any strikes carried out under Operation Ghazab-Lil-Haq. It further added that such operations would be publicly acknowledged after they take place.
