Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed climbs to No 2 in ICC ODI bowling rankings

The latest ICC ODI Bowling Rankings have been released where Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed and Shaheen Shah Afridi have made impressive improvements after the series win over Australia.

Abrar was one of the top beneficiaries of the ranking’s shakeup, picking up six wickets in the series.

The leg-spinner rose two notches higher to achieve the No 2 spot in ODI bowling, consolidating his stature as one of Pakistan’s most effective bowlers.

Meanwhile, left arm pacer Shaheen Afridi had also had a big surge in his form. After taking 7 wickets in the three-match series, Shaheen climbed four spots to 9th in the ODI bowling ranking and Pakistan now has two of the top 10.

England batter Harry Brook has moved past Joe Root in the ICC Men’s Test Batter Rankings, following the back-and-forth battle.

England batter Harry Brook has toppled teammate Joe Root off the No 1 spot in the ICC Men’s Test Batter Rankings.

Brook’s promotion comes after his crucial innings of 56 runs in England’s 115-run victory over New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship match at Lord’s.

With the half-century, Brook was one of only two batters to score a half-century in the low-scoring contest, which brings him back to the top spot that he had first held back in December, 2024.

Root on the other hand fell to the third place, and Travis Head of Australia jumped to second.

Indian skipper Shubman Gill was promoted two places to eighth, England’s Ben Duckett and Jamie Smith had also jumped two places to 15th and 23rd, respectively.

The New Zealanders Glenn Phillips also moved up 15 spots to 40th place.
