Anthropic, on Friday announced the launch of Claude Design, a new experimental product that enables users to create visuals such as prototypes, slides, one-pagers, and more using Claude.
The company states that Claude Design aims to assist individuals like founders and product managers who lack a design background in sharing their ideas more effectively.
With Claude Design, users can articulate their requirements, and Claude will generate an initial version.
As a result, users have the option to refine the visuals through direct edits or specific requests.
Users can then adjust the colors, modify the typography size, or request Claude to add a dark mode toggle.
Is Claude Design going to replace Canva?
Although Claude Design may initially appear to be in competition with the well-known design application Canva, which has recently improved its AI features, Anthropic clarified that the intention is to complement rather than replace it.
The company emphasised that its new product is designed for individuals who are not starting with a design tool and require a swift transition from an idea to a visual representation.
After teams create presentation decks or prototypes, they can export them as PDFs, URLs, PPTX files, or send them directly to Canva.
Once imported into Canva, these creations are fully editable and collaborative, according to Anthropic.
Claude Design also has the capability to apply a team’s design system to every project it generates, ensuring that the outcomes align with the company’s overall visual style.
Anthropic explains that the new application achieves this by analysing a company’s codebase and design files. Furthermore, teams can refine these elements and manage multiple design systems.
