Rawalpindi captain Mohammad Rizwan said that his hard work was lacking, which was the reason for his poor performance. He added that he is honest with himself and with Pakistan as well.
In the crucial match of PSL XI, Hyderabad Kingsmen defeated Rawalpindi and qualified for the playoffs. With this victory, the playoff lineup for the current PSL season was completed. Hyderabad Kingsmen became the fourth team to reach the playoffs.
Three teams had already secured their places in the playoffs, including Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, and Multan Sultans.
Speaking to the media after the match, Mohammad Rizwan said that cricket is not based on names but on performance, and that despite big names, results do not always go in a team’s favour.
He said that the team also faced injury problems and that his hard work was lacking, which contributed to his poor performance. He emphasised that he remains honest with himself and with Pakistan.
He further said that new and talented young players have emerged in the PSL. He was particularly impressed with Azam Khan’s performance and noted that the standard of the game is improving. He added that if players work on their shortcomings in the PSL, Pakistan cricket can progress significantly.
Mohammad Rizwan also said that although he loves Lahore Qalandars, he thought about Hyderabad Kingsmen and did not want them to progress further. He added that the PSL committee had earlier considered that this event should not be held.
Earlier, in a crucial match of PSL 11, Hyderabad Kingsmen defeated Rawalpindi and secured a place in the playoffs.
With this victory, the playoff lineup for the current season of the PSL was completed, with Hyderabad Kingsmen becoming the fourth team to qualify.
Hyderabad Kingsmen set a target of 245 runs for Rawalpindi. To qualify for the playoffs, they needed to restrict the opposition to 159 runs or fewer.
Hyderabad’s devastating bowling attack dismantled Rawalpindi’s batting lineup, as the entire team was bowled out for just 136 runs. As a result, Hyderabad Kingsmen, playing in the PSL for the first time, won by a massive margin of 108 runs and advanced to the playoffs.
