Emergency warning sirens were activated in several parts of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. The alerts were issued through the country’s National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies. The Civil Defence has also asked people to contact it if they sense danger in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, as well as in the rest of the Kingdom.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence confirmed the warning. It was the second time the sirens were activated in less than three hours.
Earlier alerts were issued in Abha and Khamis Mushait.
The latest warning covered six areas:
- Jeddah Governorate
- Taif Governorate
- Yanbu Governorate
- AlUla Governorate
- Abha City
- Jazan Province
Authorities have asked people in the affected areas to stay alert and follow official instructions.
Residents have also been advised to follow safety measures while emergency teams continue to monitor the situation.
Saudi Arabia issues aerial attack warning
The alert was sent through the National Early Warning Platform for Emergency Cases. It warned residents and visitors about a possible aerial threat.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation in Saudi Arabia and have asked people to stay calm.
Residents and visitors have been told to follow updates from official sources and obey instructions from the authorities.
Civil Defence issues safety instructions
The Civil Defence has asked people to take the following steps if they receive an emergency warning:
- Remain calm and follow official instructions.
- Immediately proceed to the nearest safe place (inside a building or an interior room away from windows) and stay there until the danger has passed.
- Do not leave your home or building until the danger has passed.
- Stay away from open areas, windows, and glass, and do not stand on balconies or roofs.
- If you are outdoors, enter the nearest building or take shelter behind a solid barrier.
- Avoid crowds or going to dangerous areas, and refrain from taking photos.
- If you receive the warning message while driving, pull over to the side of the road away from bridges and high-rise buildings.
- If you notice any danger, call the emergency number (911) in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and (998) in the rest of the Kingdom.
- Follow the instructions issued by the competent authorities through official channels.
