Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has pledged to make Kashmir “a paradise” by promoting peace, ensuring justice and securing the legitimate rights of its people.
Speaking at an election rally in Muzaffarabad, Bilawal said the people of Kashmir alone should have the authority to decide their future.
He said public opinion must remain central to the electoral process and that the candidate chosen by the majority should be declared the winner. He added that votes, not violence, should determine election results and that authorities must not cover up any electoral irregularities.
Bilawal said a constitutional convention would be held after the elections. He also called for stronger representation of Kashmiri refugees in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
The PPP chairman said his party would seek observer status for Kashmir in Pakistan’s National Finance Commission (NFC) and work to resolve the concerns of Kashmiri refugees living in Pakistan.
He added that people should receive employment opportunities alongside protection of their property rights.
