England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the second Test against Pakistan at Lord’s after a video emerged showing him handcuffed outside a nightclub in Derby.
Carse was seen surrounded by police outside a Derby nightclub following Durham’s County Championship victory over Derbyshire on Saturday night. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) launched an investigation after the video emerged and referred the matter to the Independent Cricket Regulator.
The cricket regulator has also confirmed that it is investigating the incident. According to the ECB, Carse will not be available for the second Test until the investigation is completed and the facts of the incident have been established. Fast bowler Sonny Baker has been added to England’s Test squad as Carse’s replacement.
According to reports, Carse has not been arrested or charged with any criminal offence in connection with the incident. Derbyshire Police has not yet issued an official statement.
Derbyshire Police said a man in his 30s was arrested in Derby city centre on Saturday night, August 22, on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly. He was released shortly afterwards after agreeing to leave the area.
Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said the Cricket Regulator would investigate the events that took place in Derby following a referral from the board. As the investigation continues and officials work to establish the full facts, Brydon Carse has been ruled out of selection for England’s second men’s Rothesay Test.
