Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, has filed an appeal before the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) seeking suspension of her trial court sentence and her release on bail.
The appeal cites her health condition and imprisonment circumstances, requesting relief on medical and humanitarian grounds. In the appeal, it has been stated that Bushra Bibi developed an eye condition during her imprisonment, for which she underwent eye surgery.
The petition argues that, considering her status as a woman and her medical condition, she is entitled to have her sentence suspended and to be granted bail.
The appeal further claims that Bushra Bibi was kept in solitary confinement, where she was denied adequate medical treatment and proper care.
The petition stated National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is intentionally delaying proceedings on the applications seeking suspension of her sentence. It has requested the court to suspend the trial court’s decision and order her release on bail.
Her lawyer informed the court that Bushra Bibi developed an eye-related medical condition during her time in custody and later underwent surgery. The petition argues that, considering her health condition and status as a female prisoner, she qualifies for bail relief.
The appeal further claims that Bushra Bibi was kept in solitary confinement during her imprisonment and was denied proper medical attention and necessary care. The petition has requested the court to grant her release on medical grounds until a final decision is reached in the case.
