The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken another step towards the international-standard cricket stadium project near the Margalla Hills by advancing the opening of financial bids for the project.
Sources indicate the civic agency just got the revised designs and additional financial bids from the two shortlisted joint ventures bidding for the contract.
These additional bids are likely to be submitted on the Electronic Pakistan Acquisition and Disposal System (E-PAD) portal in the next few days.
Following the necessary process, the CDA is anticipated to open the financial bids within about one week, approaching the contract award stage.
The stadium will be constructed on the slopes of Margalla Hills in Sector D-12 Islamabad.

The building will be designed to seamlessly fit in with the natural environment, while providing the spectators with a panoramic view of the Margalla range, officials have said.
The seating capacity of the stadium was estimated to be about 32 thousand and it is one of the biggest cricket grounds in the country.
The project also features a large parking space, which will be able to accommodate approximately 10,000 vehicles.
The parking area will be about 1km away from the stadium and will mostly be used by the general public on big matches and events.
The CDA is working on the project with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who are looking to make it look like the iconic Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The design will feature state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure to support international cricket matches and other large-scale events.
Presently, the only stadium in Islamabad-Rawalpindi area which can accommodate International cricket is Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The stadium, if built, will undoubtedly become a major asset for the capital and add to the strength of Pakistan’s sporting infrastructure to host big international cricket events.
