The government has decided to construct residential housing for Islamabad Police officers in the Diplomatic Enclave, with the project estimated to cost Rs1.3516 billion.
According to Jang newspaper, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has invited bids from construction firms, with the tender submission deadline set for July 16. The project is expected to be completed within one year.
The CDA has already allocated land for the housing scheme, officially named the Government Officers Residence (GOR) project. The authority’s Procurement and Contract Directorate has initiated the bidding process for the construction work.
Under the plan, separate residences will be built for the Inspector General (IG) of Police and the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), while a six-storey apartment block comprising 20 apartments will be constructed to accommodate other Islamabad Police officers.
On the other hand, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has announced that the Islamabad Police will recruit 9,000 new personnel, according to reports on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference, the IGP said that the recruitment will include Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs), Sub Inspectors (SIs), Direct Inspectors, and other posts.
He said that many police officers are close to retirement, so the force needs more young officers.
The new recruitment will help improve policing, crime prevention, emergency response, and public safety in the federal capital.
Rizvi also said that the department is increasing the use of electric vehicles. After adding 50 electric patrol vehicles, the Islamabad Police will receive 50 more for general policing.
The Islamabad Traffic Police will also get 40 electric patrol vehicles. These vehicles will help improve traffic management and emergency response while supporting the government’s clean energy goals.
