In a positive step for Pakistan cricket, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has installed the cutting-edge bowling machine ‘Trueman 3′ at its National Cricket Academy (NCA), making it the first cricket board in the world to have the high-tech training technology.
The Trueman 3 is designed to mimic real match conditions, with a high-contrast LED screen that animates real bowlers in lifelike conditions.
This animation is flawlessly timed with the ball being released, enabling batters to assess the bowler’s action, develop their trigger actions and enhance their decision-making abilities in a close-to-match playing environment.
The machine has a great degree of customisation, allowing coaches to change the line, length, pace, swing and bounce based on the needs of the batter.

It can also store and replay individual deliveries, overs and spells or provide random sequences to simulate unfavourable match situations.
The technology mitigates a key drawback of traditional bowling machines, the release of balls from an artificial release point, said PCB Director of High Performance Aqib Javed.
He explained that the Trueman 3 enables batters to synchronise themselves with the bowler so that practice sessions feel more realistic and effective.
The programmable features also assist players in preparing for specific match situations, he added.
Pakistan all-rounder Salman Ali Agha, who had a chance to try the machine at the NCA, applauded its capacity to replicate the sensation of batting against a genuine bowler.
He explained that the movements of the bowling action would ease the way for the batters to take their shots, and they can get closer to live game conditions.
Additionally, Agha highlighted the importance of providing Pakistani players with the tools to use the latest advancements in technology, such as the Trueman 3, to enhance their skills and continue dominating the game at the international stage.
