Four Pakistani nationals, including two brothers from Balhar village in Mandi Bahauddin, were shot dead in South Africa after unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle.
According to media reports, the victims were returning home after closing their shop when they came under attack. All four died at the scene. Reports indicate that three of the deceased were from Mandi Bahauddin, while the fourth was from Sialkot.
Following the incident, South African police registered a case and launched an investigation. The motive behind the attack has not yet been determined.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of the four Pakistanis and extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
According to the investigation, the victims had stopped at a traffic signal when a white sedan pulled up alongside their vehicle. Several armed men got out of the car and opened indiscriminate fire from both sides of the vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed that all four victims had died. Police recovered several 9mm pistol shell casings from the scene.
Authorities believe the incident appears to be a targeted killing. However, the motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no arrests have been made so far. Police have launched a further investigation into the shooting.
